Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Technical Services Technologist I (Job Number 17300). The Technical Services Technologist I (Procurement) in the ARC, provides technical services to support research protocols and departmental animal health program. The Technologist maintains high standard of customer service and communicates effectively with research personnel, ARC staff, and representatives from outside institutions; Receives requests and coordinates procurement of laboratory animal models from commercial sources; Performs routine techniques on a variety of laboratory animal species as directed; Provides basic rodent breeding colony support and maintenance in accordance with specific research needs; Perform health rounds of animal subjects and performs routine animal husbandry as needed. Requirements: •High school diploma/GED required. •Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences is required within 18 months of hire. •An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an animal science related field preferred. •6 years of experience in a professional animal care facility (e.g. zoo, veterinary clinic, laboratory animal facility) are required with a high school diploma/GED. •3 years of experience are acceptable with a relevant Associate's degree. •No experience is required if the necessary basic skills, knowledge and principles of laboratory animal science have been acquired through the completion of a relevant Bachelor's degree. •Experience with Excel Spreadsheets and Access Databases. •Knowledge of animal models and nomenclature. •Strong customer service experience preferred.
