11/13/2003 Senate votes to keep COOL - 11/10 MeatingPlace

The appropriations bill will now go to conference with the House of Representatives with a strong message from the Senate to remove the House language.

National Farmers Union President Dave Frederickson said America's farmers, ranchers and consumers won big with the Senate's overwhelming support of mandatory country-of-origin labeling.

"The Senate vote sends a strong message to the agriculture appropriations conference committee and to the Agriculture Department to keep COOL and fully implement this beneficial law," Frederickson said.
